Privacy policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026.
This is a real, current-state privacy notice for this version of SprueStack. It should still be reviewed by a qualified person before the site takes on paid traffic or any form of monetisation, since the content below would need updating at that point.
Who controls your data
The data controller for this site is Obsidian Dynamics Limited, company no. 16663833, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset BH16 6FA.
What this site collects
SprueStack sets no tracking cookies and uses no advertising code. There is no account system and no general-purpose server-side database of personal data. Two things process data beyond that: analytics, and the contact form, both described below.
Analytics
This site uses Plausible Analytics to measure traffic. Per Plausible's own data policy, it sets no cookies, browser cache or local storage, and does not track people across devices, websites or apps. It records page views, referrers and campaigns, and browser/OS/device type. Plausible derives your country, region and city from your IP address, then discards the IP: it does not use cookies or store personal data. It does not store your raw IP address or user-agent string: instead it combines them with the site's domain and a daily salt that rotates and is deleted every 24 hours, into a one-way hash used only to count daily visitors. See the cookie policy for more.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, the message you submit is processed to respond to you and to keep the form from being abused:
- Name: optional, included only if you choose to give one.
- Email address: optional, used only to reply to you if you ask for a reply.
- Topic and message: used to understand and respond to what you sent.
- IP address: used transiently, in server memory, to rate-limit submissions from the same address and reduce spam. It is not stored in any database by this site. It may, however, appear in the hosting provider's own request logs, as it would for any request to this site; see "Hosting logs" below.
Submissions are delivered to the site owner by email using Resend, an email delivery processor that relays the message, including your name, email and message text, on our behalf. The server's function logs record only a non-identifying status line for each submission (the time and which topic was selected): your name, email address and message text are never written to those logs, only sent through Resend. The function logs are retained only for as long as the hosting provider (currently Vercel) keeps its own log history. Submissions are not used for marketing, sold, or shared with third parties beyond the delivery of the message itself.
What your browser stores locally
This site uses your browser's localStorage to remember a few small things, listed below. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to SprueStack or any third party, and is readable only by this site in this browser. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for spruestack.com.
- ss-saved: the kits, build guides, reading paths and eras you have saved to My Workshop.
- ss-progress:guide:<slug>: which steps you have ticked off on a given build guide.
- ss-std: your Lamp view display preference.
Hosting logs
Standard web server logs, kept by the hosting provider rather than by SprueStack directly, may record IP addresses and request metadata for operational and security purposes. This is normal for any website and is not used to build a profile of you.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Beyond standard hosting logs and whatever you choose to send through the contact form, this site processes no personal data, so most data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) have nothing to act on today. If you have sent a message through the contact form and want a copy of it, or want it deleted, get in touch via the same form: the message itself only exists in the delivered email and the hosting provider's standard log retention, since the function logs described above never record it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at any time.
Registered with the ICO under reference ZC141175 (Obsidian Dynamics Limited, registered 6 May 2026).
