Build Types
Terrain and dioramas
Scenery and scenes for the tabletop or display case: buildings, ground work and terrain features.
What you need
- A cutting mat and sharp knife
- PVA glue
- Basic scenic materials: sand, static grass, foliage
- A base board sized to your table or display case
First project
A single small terrain piece, such as a short hedgerow or wall section, rather than a full diorama, so you can learn basing and texture before committing to a scene.
Common mistakes
- Building a scene before deciding its final base size and shape
- Using too much water-thin glue on foam, which can warp or dissolve it
- Varnishing indoors without ventilation
